ISSUE 6 - JANUARY 2009

Each new year David and I set an objective for the coming year, in 2008 it was ¨The Year of Achievement¨. At the start of 2008 we had many hurdles ahead to cross with the laws of Spain changing for Dive Centres and Commercial boat owners, in May David became one of the few foreigners to obtain the Spanish Captains boat licence and then in September we were granted the new official Dive Centre status. A lot of blood, sweat and tears went into the process but we got there in the end.

Our objective for 2009 is to ¨Strive Onwards¨ and not be too disheartened with the economic pressures around us all and the falling pound, so to kick start the New Year we have come up with what we hope are some ¨Sterling Offers¨. There are many direct flights to Tenerife from all over the U.K. and Ireland. Easyjet, Ryanair, Globespan and Monarch have daily flights from many of the major airports and Thomsons and Thomas Cook have flights 2/3 times each week. For other European destinations there are daily flights from Germany, Holland, Belgium, Italy and the Scandinavian Countries.

The Red Sea beckons once again for our Liveaboard trip in 2009. We did look at other options for a change but taking into consideration the costs, travel time and value for money it still came top. The trip Itinerary is the Brothers and Daedalus departing Gatwick on 16th September 2009. Last years trip was out of this world with Hammerheads a plenty, a very close encounter with an Oceanic Whitetip and of course the Dugong, these were just some of the highlights. Staying in the busier areas of Las Amercias and Los Cristianos will always cost more for food and drink, it´s no different to any other main town or city. In Costa Del Silencio and Las Galletas there are many good bars and restaurants offering excellent quality food. In Los Abrigos we even have a restaurant which has a Michelin Star. Our accommodation at Parque Don Jose has always been priced in pounds so no price increase there, a one bedroom apartment per week is 220 pounds and a 2 bedroom 290 pounds. We also have other apartments available in Costa Del Silencio at similar prices or there is a 3 star hotel just 200 yards away.
